Why Being Consistent is the Key to Building Stronger Relationships

When I think about being consistent, I think about being diligent with myself and with others. But more than anything, I think about giving continuity to everything I start. We can leave a legacy with someone we share just 10 to 20 minutes with, but the greatest satisfaction in life is building a legacy with those who matter most to us.

  • Make time for others.
  • Learn about your friends’ interests and share events, news, or anecdotes related to those topics.
  • Help someone important to you achieve a meaningful goal.
  • Create a routine with a friend based on shared interests and do something together that truly satisfies both of you.
  • Send birthday cards.
  • Celebrate others’ successes.
  • Acknowledge the virtues and talents of the people you interact with.
  • Listen empathetically.
  • Always be attentive and positive.
  • Follow up on agreements, or suggest new plans and gatherings.
  • Keep your promises
